Getting an AIM Screen Name
|
- Double-click
the AIM Triton icon.
|
- Once
AIM launches, click the Get a Screen Name link. This will open internet
explorer to the AIM screen name registration page.
|
- Click
in the *Desired Screen Name: text box and type the screen name that
you want.
|
- Click into
the text box beside *Password: and type in your desired password.
|
- Click into
the text box beside *Retype Password: and type in your desired
password again.
|
- In the text
box beside Display Name, type your first name.
|
- Select
the dropdown menu under *Account Security Question.
- Then
select the question that you want to use as your security question.
|
- Then
in the text box beside * Your Answer and type in the answer to
your security question.
|
- Next select
the text box next to *Re-type Your Answer and re-type the answer
to your security question.
|
- Then select
the text box next to Alternate E-mail Address: and type in your email address.
|
- Scroll down
the page to the second half of the form.
|
- Now,
enter the month, day, and year you were born using the dropdown menus
beside *Birthday
|
- Then
select the number of the month you were born.
|
- Next
select the day you were born.
|
- Now
select the text box after the drop down menu for the day you were born
and type in the year you were born.
|
- Select
the radio button next to your gender.
|
- Using the
dropdown menu beside *Country, choose the country where you live.
|
- Now
select the country that you live in.
|
- Select
the text box beside ZIP Code and type in your zip code.
|
- Select
the text box above the security code box. The security code box has an
image in it that contains letters and numbers. Type the letters and
numbers from the security code box into this text box.

- Click
the Submit button
|
- If
the Screen Name Service - Create An Account page appears then
your desired screen name is not available.
|
- Select
the Desired Screen Name textbox and type in another screen name
of your choice.
|
- Select
the text box above the security code box. The security code box has an
image in it that contains letters and numbers. Type the letters and
numbers from the security code box into this text box.

- Click
the Submit button
|
- Then
if Screen Name Service - Create An Account page appears again,
the screen name you requested is not available. If this happens add some
numbers or extra characters to your desired screen name.

- Select
the Desired Screen Name link and type in your desired screen
name.
|
- Select
the text box above the security code box. The security code box has an
image in it that contains letters and numbers. Type the letters and
numbers from the security code box into this text box.

- Click
the Submit button
|
- The
Congratulations. Download AIM page appears once you have chosen a
screen name that has been registered.
